iSOCO participates in European projects financed by the European commission, in cooperation with about 30 technological partners from European Universities, Investigation Centres and companies. Participation in those leading projects allows iSOCO to be at the head of technological development, with three years’ foresight with which to transform that knowledge into business opportunities.

AAt present iSOCO participates in the following IST (Information Society Technology)research projects as part of its 5th Framework Programme.

>

GLOCAL: A key idea underlying the Integrating Project GLOCAL is to use events as the primary means for organizing and indexing media.

>

Super: The main objective of the SUPER project is to combine Semantic Web Services with Business Process Modelling to consolidate technology in the telecommunications sector.

>

NeOn: NeOn´s project objective is the creation of the first infrastructure and methodology aimed at constructing Semantic Web applications.

>

Ontogrid: Ontogrid’s aim is to produce the technological infrastructure necessary for the rapid prototyping and development of knowledge-intensive scattered open services for the Semantic Grid.

>

Halo: The Halo Project is a long-term research and development initiative to create a “Digital Aristotle” – an application able to answer beginner’s questions but that can also handle advanced scientific problems in a wide range of scientific disciplines.

>

AMASS: Is a hardware platform designed to improve searches. iSOCO takes part in this project developing the power of this new platform in the context of semantic internet searches.

>

HOPS: Enabling an Intelligent Natural Language Based Hub for the Deployment of Advanced Semantically Enriched Multi-Channel Mass-scale Online Public Services.

>

SEKT: Semantically Enabled Knowledge Technologies.

>

DIP: Data, Information and Process Integration with Semantic Web Services.

>

Esperonto Services (IST-2001-34373): Aims to close the gap between the current Web and the Semantic Web providing a service to “update” existing content to semantic content. Ontologies have a key role in the effort to unify, link and integrate international and multi-language multiple heterogonous content.

>

IBROW (IST-1999-19005): Aims to develop an intelligent system able to obtain knowledge-components from scattered digital libraries according to the user’s requirements.

>

iBundler (Agentcities, IST-2000-28385): Support for Agent Mediated Electronic Commerce. iBundler is a bundled auctions solution which helps decide which collection of bids to accept in order to optimise purchases.

Many of the above mentioned projects are related to the [44] Semantic Web, an extension of the actual Web where each fragment of information attains a precise meaning. This lets people and computers collaborate much better.
