iSOCO and Bitext Reach Deal to Develop Naveganza® 3rd Generation Search Engine Platform
The company iSOCO, a leader in groundbreaking solutions for information management, has reached a deal with the company Bitext, a leading firm in natural-language analysis technology, for the launch of the Naveganza® search engine. The deal involves an investment of €600,000. iSOCO and Bitext have joined forces to launch the third-generation search engine based on understanding users and documents by applying semantic technology and natural language.
The two companies have said over the years that today’s search engines do not respond to the need to quickly, effectively and easily access the ever-growing amount of information available on the Internet. Search engines have been evolving since the first-generation ones which were based on features of documents, such as keywords, to the second-generation ones that also analysed links between documents and texts, etc. Now Naveganza provides a new way of accessing information that combines understanding users and documents by applying semantic technology and natural language.
iSOCO specializes in developing complex Internet applications that make it possible to manage information intelligently. It leads various international consortiums which are researching ways to make the Internet a more intelligent tool, aimed at helping people and organizations access information and knowledge. Bitext is a pioneering company in the development of natural-language technology and enables any application to be able to understand its users in colloquial language. In the words of iSOCO Marketing Manager, Pedro Solís, “Although many second-generation search engines exist, there is a clear need, for Spain too, to create innovation and to take a qualitative leap forward by adding semantic technology and natural language to today’s search engines.” He adds, “Joining experience with know-how, teams and technologies, this alliance will speed up the creation of a platform to generate more intelligent vertical search engines.”
Bitext CEO Antonio Valderrábanos remarks, “The agreement with iSOCO makes it possible to build search engines that incorporate natural language so that it is the machine which learns how people speak and not the other way round, as has been the case since the appearance of the first computer.”
